The 9th Nigeria Family Planning Conference welcomes submissions from researchers, academics, programme managers, health practitioners, policymakers, development partners, advocates, community-based organisations, civil society organisations, private sector actors, traditional and religious leaders, adolescent and youth representatives, and all other stakeholders committed to advancing family planning in Nigeria. International researchers and practitioners with relevant experience in low- and middle-income country contexts are also welcome.

We accept original research, programme evaluations, implementation science studies, policy case studies, and innovative practices and interventions. Submissions may be structured as oral presentations, poster sessions, preformed panels, skills-building workshops, or multimedia showcases.

Abstracts must not exceed 250 words (excluding the title, author names, and keywords). Please adhere strictly to this limit, as submissions exceeding it will not be considered for review.

Authors should structure their abstracts using the following headings where applicable: Title, Background, Aim/Objectives/Purpose, Methods/Implementation Approach/Description, Outcomes/Results, and Recommendations/Conclusions/Lessons Learned. Not all headings may be applicable to every submission type. Please use Times New Roman, 12-point font.

Include three (3) to five (5) keywords that best describe your submission. These help reviewers and attendees identify the relevance of your work.

Select the single sub-theme most relevant to your work from the six listed: (1) Domestic Resource Mobilisation & Accountability; (2) Public-Private Partnerships & Stakeholder Alignment; (3) Local Manufacturing & Supply Chain Security; (4) Scaling Inclusive Family Planning Services for Maternal Mortality Reduction; (5) FP in Humanitarian & Conflict Settings; (6) Digital Innovation & AI for Data Systems. Your abstract must explicitly address the applicable cross-cutting mandates.

All submissions must explicitly address one or more of the following: Disability Inclusion, Youth & Adolescents, Gender Equity, Traditional & Religious Leaders, Local Champions & CBOs, and Policy Translation. Please demonstrate how your work engages with these mandates in your abstract.

Yes, you may present the same research findings at more than one conference if both conferences allow this (known as an "encore" presentation). However, if your abstract is accepted for the 9th NFPC, you must disclose any prior presentations of the same data. Some conferences may restrict encore abstracts, so please check the policies of each event before submitting.

Accepted abstracts will be presented as either oral presentations or posters. Authors must indicate their preferred format at the time of submission. While every effort will be made to accommodate preferences, the final allocation is at the sole discretion of the Abstract Committee. Additional interactive formats include preformed panels, skills-building workshops, and multimedia showcases.

All abstracts must be submitted through the conference online portal. Create or update your 9th NFPC account on the conference website. If you have an existing account from previous conferences, use your credentials (reset your password if needed) and confirm your contact information before submitting.

The deadline for abstract submission is 30 September 2026. Please note: there will be no extension of this date. We strongly recommend submitting well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Notification of acceptance will be sent on 13 October 2026. Please ensure your contact details in the portal are accurate and up to date.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the Official Conference Proceedings. All presenters must complete conference registration by 30 October 2026. Acceptance provides an automatic registration fee waiver but does not guarantee travel or accommodation support — please enquire about available support through the conference secretariat.

Yes, you may withdraw your abstract by contacting the Abstract Committee before the review process begins. Once the review process has commenced, withdrawals may not be possible without formal approval.

All abstracts undergo a rigorous, blinded peer-review process. Reviewers assess scientific quality and originality; relevance to the conference theme and selected sub-theme; engagement with cross-cutting mandates; strength of methodology and quality of evidence; clarity of findings, conclusions, and policy implications; and potential contribution to Nigeria's FP2030 commitments.

Yes, all accepted abstracts will be published in the Official Conference Proceedings. Selected high-quality abstracts may also be invited for full-length manuscript development following the conference, subject to editorial and peer-review requirements.

Minor corrections (e.g., typos, author name updates) may be requested before the review process begins by contacting the Abstract Committee. Substantive changes to the abstract content after submission are not permitted unless formally requested by the Abstract Committee.

Yes. The organisers will host a virtual webinar with practical guidance on preparing and submitting your abstract, including what reviewers look for and how to align with the conference theme and sub-themes.
